SHOULDER SATCHEL Serena Peace of my Heart

She's centered, balanced, hip, a celestial sister, Serena, a Goddess in her own right, shining her peace lantern down from the Heavens. I created the bulk of this shoulder satchel using a straw-colored, textured, upholstery-weight chenille. The collaged front pocket and flap is a compilation of tapestry and brocade embellished with a ceramic heart, bone peace sign, and metal star bead. Sand and olive colored leathers contrast, accent, and add durability in all the right places. Whether dangling from your shoulder or cross-wise on the body, may PEACE BE WITH YOU!

HANDCRAFTED SHOULDER SATCHEL Chameleon-Like Chenille

As a textile lover and handbag artisan, I can barely contain myself when I find a really great piece of fabric. At first glance, this piece looks dark and nondescript, but don't be deceived by chance appearances!! This is a luscious, shimmery, chameleon-like fabric that changes color from different angles and in different lighting. I thought I would wait until fall to create this bag but the fabric kept calling to me, and I just knew that olive and chocolate leathers with a smattering of irridescent metal beads laced around the pocket flap would do it justice!

ALL LEATHER SHOULDER BAG/ WOVEN PAINTED FLAP

I go through phases in my creativity and always enjoy the ride! Here's an example of acrylic paint applied to unfinished, veg tanned leather. I abstractly painted the leather and then cut it into strips and wove it with the black and chocolate leather that I used for the bulk of the bag. This is a great everyday size, it holds the essentials without being boxy and cumbersome.

LADYBUG, LADYBUG................

http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=10645491 Sweet and simple, this Ladybug-themed tapestry fabric stands out in the crowd! I created this shoulder bag to showcase the uniqueness of the pattern. The red leather piping and strap accents and reinforces this one of a kind. Shoulder Bag of the Day

For those of you who don't know about the web site called ETSY, it's a site where artists and crafts people sell their handmade creations. I'm thrilled to have a cyber shop on this site. It enables me to create my handbags, photograph them, write up a blurb, and list all in a very user friendly format. It's not an auction, it's a retail shop viewed by thousands of people daily!

My bag of the day is of a theme just in time for summer! This beach inspired tapestry fabric looks great with the casual colors of summer. This is a two piece ensemble, a great value! You can almost smell the salt air.............................................

Art Meets Function

I love it when a plan just comes together!! It's an exhilerating ride!! The embellished pocket on this shoulder tote started to unfold when I saw a scrap of the minty green tapestry fabric and visualized an almost x-ray-like torso. I knew immediately it was a sign, and the rest just fell into place. The basic shape of this bag is slightly cinched at the sides and contours nicely as it dangles from the shoulder or is worn cross-wise on the body.
